All about IQ!
An introduction in brief, who are we?
We organise and run many different events throughout the year, find out more...
Come join us and receive benefits including subsidised events, socials, and a say at the AGM!
As all IC societies must, we have a written constitution which describes our functions in detail.
ABOUT
IQ is the LGBT+ society at Imperial College London.
Founded as Imperial Queers in 1997, we are a social society which exists to make sure all gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and asexual students have opportunities to make friends, enjoy their time at Imperial and have access to useful information and support. It doesn't matter if you've been out for years or are just beginning to explore your sexual identity, we're very friendly! We're here for all sexualities and warmly welcome new members at any time during the year.
SOCIALS
Throughout the year we run numerous events for everyone part of the society, including LGBT film screenings and games nights. Annually, we host a Christmas party, a Eurovision night and events for pride in the summer as well as celebrating LGBT History Month in February.
Along regular nights out in London, we also have our termly bar night in Soho, AtomIQ.
MEMBERSHIP
An IQ membership means that you can attend subsidized events and vote at the AGM. However, most events don't require membership, so don't feel that this stops you from attending! We will clearly state ahead of time if an event does require membership.
Membership can be obtained for £5 at the Union website here.
The IQ committee is here to create a warm and welcoming environment for all members, new or old.
We organise events, network with other universities, maintain the welfare and equal treatment of the LGBT community within Imperial and provide people with relevant advice. The committee is comprised of students within IQ and, every march, a new committee is elected for the next academic year.
COMMITTEE
IQ has a busy calendar with social events on every week of term. We try to cater for all by offering events ranging from our popular termly bar night AtomIQ to our friendly film nights. We also arrange nights out in London and some trips further afield, alongside our successful Christmas party!
The best way to keep your diary up to date is to make sure you've signed up to our (confidential) mailing list. You'll receive weekly e-mails detailing what's on and where to meet, plus any exciting additions which the committee feel like decorating your inbox with.
You're also invited to join us on Facebook, where you'll find listed all upcoming events - however rest assured that all information will be sent out in the emails if you don't want to join on Facebook.
Whenever we have a major event approaching, such as AtomIQ, details will be posted on the homepage. Finally, the calender below details all forthcoming planned events.
