Tales From Earthsea

This film was a huge disappointment. As much as I love Studio Ghibli, I must admit this isn't up to their usual standard. The drawings are amazing, especially the landscapes, but what happened to the plot???!? It's as if they only walked past the book and didn't even bother to really read it, but then again I guess the title does say 'tales' and allowances should be made for artistic licence, but where Howl's Moving Castle succeeds at this, this film fails. It is slow paced and the plot that exists is so weak that it's the consistency of a heavily watered soup and that dragon thing at the end was so wrong and out of the blue. I'm sorry to rant on about it but I was expecting so much more. I welcome any other viewpoints because I would so like to be wrong.

That's a shame. The TV mini-series was awful too so it seems to be a trend.

Wish i could disagree, as i loved the book and love Ghibli but was most displeased with this effort.
