I was disapointed by this book, probably due to overly high expectations induced by the award nominations and blurb which led me to expect some masterpiece spanning generations and genres. What I got was 6 not hugely special seperate stories tenuously linked together with a throw-away sentance here or there. I think my biggest disappointment was the 6th story (which actually comes in the middle) which I found practically unreadable due to the heavy use of dialect. Stories 2 and 5 I found either interesting and number 3 was quite fun, but 1 and 4 really didn't interest me much. A fascinating concept for a novel, I just wish that it had actually lived up to it's ideas.
