After a year of waiting Terry Pratchett brings forth another masterpiece! This ones a real stonker, with a great convoluted plot and a high gag density, one of his best yet. Set in that great festering pile which straddles the river Ankh, it is the story of the first newspaper to happen and is also the story of political intrigue and nasty people.

With a new and (I think) probably enduring set of main characters; with all the old favourites in the periphery, it appears to have everything the mix needs. Really nasty villains "lightening arced from his nostril hair to the chains", a vampire photographer "don't mention ze b-vord", the Watch's new doctor Igor "swimming potatoes", and a very heavily disguised terrier-like-thing unwillingly going under the name of Trixybell!

That is really all I can say without giving it all away, except that in my opinion it is as good as 'Men at Arms' and 'Moving Pictures'. Well worth getting in hardback if you are a fan and if you're not (what's wrong with you?) Christmas is just around the corner!!!!!
