Review: Taken

It's taken us a few weeks to get through this 20 hour mini-series, but it was well worth the effort. Historically it was beautifully done - covering 60 years of America with nice unobtrusive historical stuff thrown in. Giving Spielberg the scope to do something so extensive is definately a good thing, the story can't be told in a hurry or by just one group of people - covering 5 generations of these three unrelated yet interlinked families gives a nice epic quality. There were low patches but for the most part it was a great series with some nice acting and cool ideas. The fact that the plot can probably be boiled down to a couple of paragraphs, yet it keeps the viewer's attention is a sign of Spielberg's great story telling abilities. I think it would be pretty cool to show as a regular evening thing, with 10 episodes of ~2 hours each it would neatly fit into a term.

Fantastic series, slight blimp in the middle but I really liked how the ending was handled. Fun and great camera work ]:=8)

i;m with karne as far as the blip - after that it went downhill in my mind.

up until then the program was doing some rocking stuff with the passage of time - with so much time passing in the episodes, but when it slowed down it turned from an almost serious look at the abduciton phenomena (emphasis on the almost...well, not quite almost :) into something very different.

I;d like to go back and watch it again, as on reflection i think i was just pissed off that the end wasn;t didn;t have the same feel as the start.

overall - good then not so good, but alright. or something :)

Hey, it's Speilberg, I was looking forward to a decent, balenced remake of Close Encounters and that's what I got.

Interestingly I stopped watching X fFiles for exactly the opposite reason. I realised they were never going to get out of the 'no answers' rut they'd got stuck in and that I was getting bored.

GO back and watch it again ];=8)
