Stargate SG1 cancelled

The series will not return for an 11th series, although Atlantis has been booked for a fourth. The exec producer is saying this won't be the end.

That's a shame but not unexpected. 10 years is a damn good run.

[offtopic] hey - Simon, where you been hiding? We have a box of cards for you :)

I've not been in london... I can be around most of next week (not monday -parents' anniversary) if anyone wants to do anything (e.g. play magic/drink coffee etc)

Good that they're planning to continue somehow...

It's funny how SG1 is being sandwiched by Stargate movies (even if the upcoming one won't be in the same canon) - is that coincidental?

That's a shame; I enjoyed the 9th series (haven't seen any of the 10th yet), even if it didn't hold my attention as much as Atlantis.

Something I was thinking about earlier: Inspector Morse got a pretty long run (13 years according to IMDB) by doing short stories every year or so. Alien Nation also had a decent set of TV movies after the main series finished, so there is precent for this type of thing to continue.

Even made it onto (

I still enjoy watching episodes, but that's about all these days, I don't really look forward to watching it as I do Atlantis or other shows.

It's suffered very badly this year with ratings, down up to about 20% on last year. Mostly this is being blamed on the lack of Battlestar and competition from Monk on another channel, but with spiralling costs it's tough to justify the spend.

I would put money on it being back for tv-movies/mini-series and at least a few of the characters transferring to Atlantis on an occasional, or even regular basis. (Send Walter over as Grodin's replacement - the current Canadian guy just isn't cutting it!)
