What's with the doesn't-tap-for-mana land? Is it just that the font wouldn't be readable if they added in one more line?

I wish they'd actually gone for teh graveyard order matters theme - it would have been better; afterall, there's no real reason to be fiddling with the order of your graveyard.

 karne ( 3rd Jul 2006, 10:27, Rank: GSV )  reply

I've played games where graveyard order counts, it's very annoying.

I wonder if the whole 'if creature dies, do X else remove from game' effect will be even more annoying. Hard to remember triggered effects if the cards concerned can't be seen.

Resize (wizards.com) - green pump and a good one.

The prerelease card is Allosaurous rider (wizards.com)

although I think we knew that - good really, as I won't be too dissapointed if i can't make it.

Erkle. Is this one of those "hey mirrodin's out of block and no one just plays plain old constructed anymore anyways" cards? the pump is cool and the dinosaur rider scares me a bit. Maybe I'll finally get round to that land deck i've been pondering in the back of my head.

The pump combos nice with Great Good. You're welcome to the dinosaur, I don't like it much :)

Nope - I still don't like it. The pose seems very un-natural, one hand looks much larger than the other and she's got no legs. *shrug*

Nice adaption of the pump knights, flying's good as it gives them more bite but they'll still be quite easy to kill. Open to discussion if these are better than Skyknights or Skyhunters. I still think the latter is the best.

Ooo! Pretty pretty horses. I'm ambivalent about the actual cards (bit expensive imho although I'm never sure about what value to put on pro-single-colour) but the artwork is very pretty and the concept is cool.

 karne ( 6th Jul 2006, 15:31, Rank: GSV )  reply

They're priced very aggressively. As I understand the Skyhunter at WW for a 2/2 flyer is the ceiling. You won't see better than that.

(www.wizards.com) - mechanic review - and a collection of cards I'm not sure whether we've seen (I'm losing track).
Mishra's Bauble (free drop 'slowtrip' but not very exciting for it's ability)
Owl keeper, very cool card, art and concept (fluffy giant with pet owls!), Surging flame (aka rippling blast) and Soulspike (meh).

 karne ( 7th Jul 2006, 10:13, Rank: GSV )  reply

Also Ronom Hulk, (wizards.com) - silliness

Michra's Bauble in potentially very exciting. Nice balance to Urza's bauble.

In both cases the effect is just gravy, the main advantage is being able to play a card for free that replaces itself. There arn't many examples of them.

(wizards.com) sortable spoiler here

 karne ( 10th Jul 2006, 09:57, Rank: GSV )  reply

This is utterly unexpected, Wizards have *de*errataed a number of cards, putting them back to their original power level. The list includes:

* Palinchron * Treachery * Great Whale * Cloud of Faeries * Priest of Gix * Peregrine Drake * Iridescent Drake * Karmic Guide * Basalt Monolith * Time Vault * Intuition * Enduring Renewal * Balance * Drop of Honey * Goblin Snowman * Celestial Dawn

Most notably this now allows 'come into play' brokenness again.
