Lichen survies trip to space and back

El-Reg is reporting on an experiment that sent lichen sucessfully into space, exposed it to a the vacuum and radiation and bought it back down again without ill effects.

Whilst not actually growing things in deep space it seems hopeful that lichen like things can be transported and used in terraforming.
