A somewhat tricky choice given only three votes! Out of interest - what did you chose?

I just embraced the fact that I'm a media fan and went for Firefly, Battlestar and Farscape - although I really wanted B5, Forever War, Mote in God's Eye, 2001 and Serenity in there too ;0)

b5, farscape, firefly (new galactica would be next)

ok despite karne's attempts to get me to read more, i guess i'm still mainly a media fan... i find it very difficult to vote for a 'mere' book over an entire 5+ year series. Is it even fair to do a comparison?

 karne ( 11th Oct 2005, 17:37, Rank: GSV )  reply

Yeah I think it's fair, many books i've read have had far more effect on me than any tv series.

ymmv as always though ]:=8)

Unsurprisingly, the 3 I went for were: dr who, HHTTG (book) and Dune (book)

though there were a couple of others that tempted me

why is everyone doing polls of 'best ever' these days?

 karne ( 12th Oct 2005, 12:10, Rank: GSV )  reply

'Cause they're easy to do. Roll on the poll of best ever polls!

 Billy ( 13th Oct 2005, 09:05, Rank: Tripod )  reply

I ended up going for Ring World, Diaspora and Solaris (book). I didn't see Dune the book on there...bah.

I liked some of the other books on there better, but they weren't necessarily better "sci-fi" (Iain Banks especially).

read biography for - fruitfly

 fruitfly ( 13th Oct 2005, 10:55, Rank: Triffid )  reply

Am going to have to go with Karne on this one B5 Hitchhikers and 2001, although was tempted by Dune and Battlestar

read biography for - Stephen Baines

 Stephen Baines ( 13th Oct 2005, 14:29, Rank: Ewok )  reply

Nights Dawn, Enders Game, B5. still more fantasy than SF in what i read.
