Hey! I predicted that card last night!!! I said that I expected non-basic land for the guild homes! Admittedly I thought htey were gonna be legendary (thematically it would make sense) but I said they'd be there! Yay me!

 Sulkyblue ( 8th Sep 2005, 10:02, Rank: Nazgul )  reply

Dear god that's horrifically badly written! Dredge 1 (If you would draw a card you may put the top card (or top x cards) of your library into your graveyard and return this card to your hand

Why does it need the 'exactly' or the 'otherwise draw a card'?

Beyond the horrific text - it's a nice card

read biography for - karne

 karne ( 8th Sep 2005, 16:52, Rank: GSV )  reply

I'm guessing this is a graveyard only ability (or rather a replacement effect, as it doesn't appear to be triggered or activated).

By this thinking it should be:

If this card is in your graveyard, when you draw a card, you may instead put the top N cards from your library into your graveyard and return this card to your hand.

herm.. I'm not sure that's much better actually.. hee ]:=8)

read biography for - Sulkyblue

 Sulkyblue ( 8th Sep 2005, 17:12, Rank: Nazgul )  reply

OH! I assumed that it was meaning when you draw the card from the sacrifice - ie ou can do it while it dies or not at all.

Well - now I'm more confused than ever

read biography for - karne

 karne ( 8th Sep 2005, 18:00, Rank: GSV )  reply

The sacrifice is a seperate ability, you can use dredge whenever you draw a card and it's in the graveyard.

If your Scarab dies due to blocking some huge stompy, the best option is probably to sac it in response, keep the card you drew, then activate Dredge during your turn using your normal draw.

Either way, this beetle is going to keep bouncing off the graveyard!

What's with the echo (echo)? Why couldn't that have been "three target creatures get +1/+1" you're allowed to pick the same creature from that aren't you? I guess it's white 'cos it helps weenies, but it seems a bit pure green to me.

The card itself is quite fun though.

read biography for - karne

 karne ( 12th Sep 2005, 10:20, Rank: GSV )  reply

'Three target creatures get +1/+1' is one effect, I'm not sure that would allow all three to be the same creature, even with the new rule. Either way it's ambiguous and their way isn't (and is kind of cool).

Nice card, very white (global pump like crusade) and very green (giant growth) depending on how you want to play it.

What's up with the dippy broad though? Magic art is usually slicker than that.

The price is very reasonable when you consider that a blue/black deck should be able to thin out all the creatures but the ones you want sacrificed.
