![]() Ravonica PreviewsPosted by karne (18th Aug 2005, 14:58) - http://www.wizards.com And we have the first Ravonica Preview, probably the best 'fixed' dual land yet printed... Almost back up to the standard of the originals. ![]() karne ( 18th Aug 2005, 15:43, Rank: GSV ) agreed- btw, the next and last (?) step of Make the Card is here (www.wizards.com) I'm really not very excited by it.. ![]() Siberman ( 18th Aug 2005, 19:05, Rank: Mentat ) oh, btw, do we know what the theme is going to be for ravonica yet? it looks as though it should be very multi coloured. ![]() armadillo ( 18th Aug 2005, 19:41, Rank: Peacekeeper ) Trying to avoid too many spoilers: The theme apears to be specifically promoting two-colour play, rather than the Invasion style 'as many colours as you can'. The set is called Ravnica: City of Guilds and there are a total of 10 guilds on the plane, one for each colour combination. Ravnica will only feature 4 of these guilds, the other six coming with Guildpact and Dissention, 3 in each. Also, the city of Ravnica seems to be a meeting place for species from many planes, so there should be plenty of familiar species and tribes around. ![]() armadillo ( 18th Aug 2005, 19:48, Rank: Peacekeeper ) These lands look like they're going to be pretty awesome, but expensive; speculation is that they could fetch as much as $25 each on the secondary market. Still, very cool and interacts well with some land searchers. Also (having seen the names of the others n the cycle), they have non setting-specific names, making them viable for reprinting in the future ![]() Siberman ( 19th Aug 2005, 13:13, Rank: Mentat ) interacts VERY well with the land cycling cards, since they're both types of basic land (if that makes sense) ![]() armadillo ( 19th Aug 2005, 21:59, Rank: Peacekeeper ) Say what? How could they be anything but rare, they're really good. Even back in the old days, when Web was rare and Library of Alexandria was uncommon, they had the sense to make the dual lands rare, and these are the best versions since then. As an aside, they'll interact very well with the onslaught fetch-lands, as you'll be able to fetch a new-dual at the end of opp's turn and just pay the 1 life for the fetch-land's cost. ![]() karne ( 19th Aug 2005, 10:50, Rank: GSV ) yeah, they may well have found a fix for the perannual dual-land problem. ![]() karne ( 23rd Aug 2005, 14:28, Rank: GSV ) insane magic format suggestion #1: Velcro Magic! a) every time a permanant becomes the target of a spell or ability, the controler gains control of it b) whenever a permanent becomes the target of another permanent, those are considered stuck together c) stuck together permanents change control as one permanent from then on d) stuck together creatures may onyl act as one - they attack togather, all tap to activate an ability one of them controls etc. Think Katamari Damashii. Thoughts? ![]() karne ( 25th Aug 2005, 11:34, Rank: GSV ) Other option: Vanguard also: Hell's Caretaker Hand +0, Life +4 3 Mana, Sacrifice a creature: Return target creature card from your graveyard to play. Maro Hand +1, Life -7 Tap an untapped creature you control, Discard a card: Target creature you control gets +X/+X until end of turn, where X is the number of cards in your hand. ![]() karne ( 30th Aug 2005, 11:09, Rank: GSV ) ok, that's fine, I justed wanted to check, we've had spamming on the book suggestion list before. ebay link -> good price but with a 6 feedback seller I'ld be very wary. ![]() karne ( 1st Sep 2005, 13:50, Rank: GSV ) Ravnica Orb of Insight is up, also a trailer 3 references to dragon and 8 to drake, I'm happy ]:=8) ![]() karne ( 1st Sep 2005, 13:51, Rank: GSV ) 4 equipment, 1 reference to spike (?), 12 zombies.. 7 griffin.. /me bounces ![]() dormouse ( 1st Sep 2005, 14:00, Rank: Jedi ) 2 ogre, 2 gargoyle, 3 garden, 5 centaur (yay!), 2 bird, 0 sliver, 4 beast, 3 druid, 0 townsfolk (aww), 2 guard, 1 guardian, 2 archer, 18 spirit, 22 aura, 11 elemental (yay!) ![]() karne ( 1st Sep 2005, 14:03, Rank: GSV ) 9 saprolings 9 legends 2 Doppelgangers 3 faerie (!!) 2 gorgons 6 plants 1 archangel 5 troll maybe even an ooze the trailer's rather cool too..
