I had hoped that they were going to drop indestructible as being too broken, then they come up with thta silly samurai.

I like this one though. I suppose that it is a counter for overrun, and about time too.

re. Emperor
yes, I'd forgot we do shared turns for that. It certainly has its uses there then, and indeed in any team game where team members share turns.

What was I saying about silly? OK, so it's not as bad as mindslaver, and there are plenty of other ways of messing around with turns, but this is just another reminder of why I hate blue :-)

that's great ]:=8) what a beutifully daft card..

question: does it trigger end of turn abilities? It doesn't actually say it does...

 armadillo ( 1st Sep 2004, 10:24, Rank: Peacekeeper )  reply

i think end of turn triggers actually happen at the end of turn step, which would be skipped. I may be wrong here, however.

As for the card - it would look much cooler without all the reminder text:
like this

 karne ( 1st Sep 2004, 12:18, Rank: GSV )  reply

yeah - it's much cooler, it's also much more unusable unless you want a raving argument every time it's played! It's not clear by 'end the turn' that the card also acts as both a Stifle and a Counterspell for example.

I agree that the card gives no end of turn step, hence no end of turn triggers. Logically it seems wrong but the rules work that way I think?

Also.. wth happens to the mana in your ops pool? Do they burn? Herm maybe not, the priority doesn't pass after mana drawing so unless your oop doens't do anything silly like draw all his mana at once then try and cast several spells in turn, you can't burn em.

Presumably combat damage is cancelled, and I'ld noticed that since Time Stop removed spells in the stack from the game, its' acually better than counterspell.

 armadillo ( 1st Sep 2004, 13:06, Rank: Peacekeeper )  reply

you'd take mana burn if you happened to have any mana floating around that you can't use, though I don't see why you'd be in that situation.

This, along with other cards on the (cards.mtgnews.com) spoiler seem to be heralding a return to power for blue. Maybe.

more of a problem - how do you defend with such a deck? Echoing decay or truth would wipe you out..
