I'm not hugely impressed with this info, to say the least. For similar reasons to my response to the Thunderbirds Film story. Why piss about with it? They seem to have taken out some of the best elements and replaced them with over used plot devices. Eg taking away the good relationship between Apollo (LEE?!?) and his father to replace it with tired old 'child has issues with his father'. And the buddy relationship between Apollo and Starbuck to be replaced with a will-they-won't-they relationship with Apollo's female partner. Give me strength!
As for the style stuff, it sounds like it could be interesting. But as has been pointed out, it's hardly the latest thing... anyone watched Firefly? They nicely did a lot of the stuff that's being talked about without claiming it to be better than sliced bread.
Why, oh why can't they just support new series rather than 'reimagining' old one's which leads to pissing off the old fans and not impressing anyone else. I will of course give it a shot and see what it's like, I'm not as narrow minded as the article writer accuses others of being, but whether you liked the original series or not, it was a classic and pissing off the fans is not a good idea.
Rant temporarily over.

Yeah - "A take-charge woman who runs around the ship in a jogging bra and shorts". <snort> I see they've been taking lessons from Voyager and Enterprise in "how to appeal to a wider audience"... Ditto for "Number Six, with drop-dead looks and a perfect body"; I wonder where they got the idea of a female character with a number instead of a name?

Looking at all the style stuff, it just strikes me as incredibly pretentious. Reminds me of some dialogue from a "Damage Control" comic, where a director turns up to make a film about the characters. "He hasn't actually made a feature yet. But his senior thesis film, 'Possessive', won a student award." "What was it about?" "Lots of kinetics, dolly and tracking shots and some really cool smoke and dissolves and framing and some of it was in black and white and some of it was grainy 16mm and..." "No, I mean what was the story about?" "Story?"

They mention "The speed of light is a law and there will be no moving violations." - probably going to take them a while to get to Earth then!

Like Lorna, I'll certainly watch it to see what it's like, but I really wish they'd gone with Richard Hatch's version instead.

(www.aintitcoolnews.com) has a review of the script for the first couple of 'episodes'. The reviewis quite favourable, it sounds like it could be a good series. Would it still have been good if they hadn't made such changes? We'll never know.
