Well, I haven't seen the leaked script - I suppose it depends whether they want to do an origin story (which the TV series didn't, as I recall), or just jump straight in and assume that everyone knows the basic concept.

Mind you, I hear that they haven't actually spoken to Gerry Anderson about this at all, which doesn't seem like a promising start.

The original script wasn't really either. They screwed up the characters - changing all the ages etc. Basically it was turning it into a kids film, so it was about Alan as a child getting involved with a rescue (or soemthing like that). They made a real mess of it, turning it into a kinda Spy Kids type scenario.

Urk - doesn't sound good. I'm not quite sure how old the brothers were supposed to be in the original series, early 20s I guess. But Alan as a 15-year old certainly sounds wrong. The visual they mentioned in the article sounds quite impressive (Thunderbird 2 in front of Parliament), but then again that's what I thought about "Reign of Fire" (dragons over Big Ben), and that looked sufficiently dire that I didn't bother watching it.

At the time the show was set Alan (the youngest) was 21 and Scott (the eldest) was 26 and this was at the very beginning of International Rescue. Hence they have to completely screw the scenario up to have Alan as a 15 year old. If they want to have that plot then fair enough, but just write the story, don't interfer with the original series ideas. Thunderbirds is popular enough that it could support a film without being pissed about with, so why do so?
You really missed out with Reign of Fire actually, it was a very good film.

Oh well, on the bright side, even if they do it that way, they'll probably wind up with a 21 year old actor playing a 15 year old :) But yes, any series which has appealed to children over 5 decades without being altered doesn't really seem to be crying out for "improvement".

As for "Reign of Fire", I was working late when the ICSF trip was organised, and I didn't bother going on my own, but since you recommend it I'll keep an eye out for it on DVD/Sky.

From Dark Horizons (this is the complete section in question) - "Thunderbirds creator Gerry Anderson talked with The Herald Sun recently and didn't seem too enamoured with the idea of the upcoming movie which he's not being consulted over: "It amazes me. I have not been approached at all. It was my lifetime ambition to make a major movie about Thunderbirds so I feel like I have been robbed. I know the show the best and could stop them from making mistakes". "
*sigh*
