Book Database Comparison Tool

This tool allows you to compare the contents of the ICSF database with a number of online book indexes/lists. You can use this to see what books we're missing by a particular author, or to make sure that we don't already have items on the request list.

 1. Choose your data sources

There are 9 sources available. It's quite easy to add new sources so tell me if you find a good one. Alternatively if you already have data, you can add a source now.

What is missing from that the has?

To see what books we're missing by a particular author: make source 1 = ICSF Database, and source 2 = SciFan or ISFDB. These 2 online listings tend to have different information and some errors/alternate titles - keep that in mind!

To check that we don't already have the stuff on the request list: make source 1 = ICSF Database, source 2 = ICSF Request List, and tick the "check all items" box.

 2. Choose author to examine

Author name, eg "Pratchett" or "Pratchett, Terry" for narrower searches (the full format may not work for all sources):

Check all the items, regardless of author - only do this if the 2nd database is small!
