The RSM football team play 11 a-side football in LUSL (London Universities Sports Leagues). We play two games a week throughout the autumn and spring terms against other university sides from across London, and we also take part in the legendary Bottle Match against the scum that is the Camborne School of Mines.

We had a relatively successful 2016/17 season, finishing undefeated and getting promoted from LUSL intermediate division 2, and narrowly missing out on the bottle match drawing 1-1. This coming year we are looking to continue to build on our past achievement and hopefully challenge in the new division and win the bottle after so many years of hurt.

Although we play to win we realise that although we are finely tuned athletes, it is unlikely that any of us will go on to play for England, so we always have a good laugh when we play, win or lose. We are a sociable side, and try to get everyone who plays for us as involved as possible in the social life of the RSM. You’re not an RSM footballer until you’ve dragged yourself to some far flung corner of London to play in the rain after pints at the bar the night before …unless you’re James Tolley in which case you spent the whole night doing your Igneous & Metamorphic coursework. We also run the now annual inter-year tournament where each year group pits themselves against each other.

So if you want to play for a competitive side that doesn’t take things too seriously, then drop me an email. Come on you R’SSSS!
