About us

Since its founding, the Bioengineering Society has grown from strength to strength with a strong sense of community amongst all its 700 members. The activities for our members include social activities, wellbeing events and industrial opportunities, allowing our members to settle in and enjoy university life whilst obtaining valuable contacts for the future. Bioengineering is a rapidly developing industry and we aim to provide an atmosphere to keep our students comfortable throughout their studies. More information on the department can be found here.

  • Ranked eighth best university in the world

Imperial College is one of the world’s leading Bioengineering Institutes, as well as being ranked eighth best in the world. Bioengineering is a rapidly developing industry. Along with providing crucial academic skills, our society aims to create an environment that gives unique opportunities, which can boost and improve our members’ career prospects. We organise several skill learning seminars during the year, as well as introducing our members to a vast number of companies via the career’s talks and our annual Bioengineering Careers Fair.

  • We are a student elected, student based society

We provide our students with excellent social events, allowing them to interact with the whole department as well wellbeing events, including Arts & Crafts, Movie Nights, and sports days. Examples of events held are:

ICBE Quiz Night - In the heart of the Royal School of Mines Imperial College Bioengineering Society organise a Pub Quiz for the entire department, with only 100 tickets available we sell out quickly. An evening full of topical questions, humour and teaming up with department staff. Food and drink provided are provided at the event as well as a chance to meet and talk to alumni, all for a small entry fee.

Over 300 Tickets, a 3 course dinner with drinks and an after party. A chance to let your hair down and celebrate the end of first term with some of your favourite lecturers.

  • From the lab to the workplace

We hold Annual Careers Fairs, an exclusive meet and greet with companies from a variety of industries, including Medical Devices, Pharmaceutical, Consultancy as well as Start-Ups. This is a fantastic opportunity to network and enquire about Summer Internships, Year in Industry Placements, Graduate Recruitment and Sponsorship.
