Orchestra - Sinfonietta

Category: Arts & Entertainment
Sinfonietta is a full symphony orchestra, now over 25 years old, led by professional conductor William Carslake. We play a wide variety of enjoyable and challenging repertoire to a high standard. Last year's concerts included performances of Prokofiev Symphony No 5 and Dvořák Carnival Overture. We rehearse every Monday at 18.30, followed by a trip to ħbar. We have a highly deserved reputation as being a very sociable orchestra, with socials organised throughout the year, and our weekend away in first term is a great ice-breaker for new players! Our fun-loving nature does not detract from our playing, however, and we put on fantastic performances three times a year, with some distinguished young soloists. We are also one of the most travelled musical societies, touring yearly to locations such as Valencia, Croatia, Romania, Madrid and, most recently jointly touring to Prague with ICSO. We are always on the lookout for new players - no audition is required for strings or percussion, and we have occasional vacancies in woodwind, horns and brass. So if you'd like to be part of one of the most enjoyable and rewarding societies at Imperial, come and find us at Freshers' Fair!
