Taekwondo

Category: Martial Arts
Taekwondo is a Korean martial art renowned for its kicks, agility and mobility, and our club has maintained teaching this for many years as one of the most established martial arts clubs at Imperial. Our classes allow students to improve their fitness and flexibility whilst learning patterns, sparring and self-defence. Regardless of gender, size or experience, this enforces power, speed and accuracy. We have both WT and ITF style teams that represent us nationally in BUCS competitions against all UK universities. Not only have we excelled in these; winning the Indomitable Spirit trophy consecutively for 4 years; but we also qualify many participants for the annual international EUSA competition. This has given us an elite reputation for both Sparring and Patterns/Poomsae. But it's not all just about competition! Aside from sporting matters, we take great pride in the ICUTKD team spirit. To ensure this is kept strong, we have an active social schedule, ranging from mini-golf to even formal dinners. Additionally, our strong relations/events with other clubs (e.g. the annual ICUTKD - LSE varsity) allows us to meet people from all over! If you’re interested in joining, please hit us up on our email (icutkd@ic.ac.uk), or Instagram (@icutkd)! We have three sessions a week (Monday, Thursday and Saturday), and we’re welcome for all levels to join, whether a beginner or an olympian - we’re sure you’ll learn something new in every session!
