Shorinji Kempo

Sakuyama Sensei demonstrating kote maki gaeshi

A defensive martial art which was founded in 1947 by Doshin So as a means to rebuild post-war Japan. It is composed of self-defence techniques, philosophy and healing techniques, and has three main aims: to develop a healthy body, to cultivate the soul, and to enable practical self-defence. We practice Shorinji Kempo not to become the best fighters but to develop simultaneously all who train.
