Last few weeks of winter term

Details about a range of events happening over these last few weeks of term…

Annual Christmas Dinner – Monday 10th December 8pm
This will be held at a great restaurant to be revealed later this week (no crappy College food) straight after training on the last Monday of term. After dinner, a variety of prizes will be awarded to beginners and team members and forfeits may be administered for team member’s bad performance. For a preliminary check on numbers click here, type “yes” and send if you’d like to come to this exclusive event.

IC Winter Term Novice Fencing Competition – Monday 10th December 6-8pm, Ethos
The ladder league has been going strong for the past few weeks now, hopefully giving you beginners some exposure to the competitive side of fencing. On the last Monday of term our regular training session will include the annual IC Fencing Novice Competition. This novice-only competition lets you pit your wits and new-found fencing skills against each other. The victors will receive prizes at the Annual Christmas Dinner. Don’t worry if you’ve missed some sessions recently – you’ll still be in with a chance of winning (trust me).

Training session – Friday 7th December
Most of the experienced members of the club will be at a national student fencing competition on Friday next week. SO, we’ll need three beginners take over and help get the club kit from the store cupboard in the union to the sports hall in ethos. Don’t worry there will be someone who knows what they’re doing to help you out and the coach Jean-Christophe will be at the session to help out. If you think you could help out and turn up under the union arch at 5:30pm just before training on Friday the 7th please click here and type “I’ll help” and send. You’re fellow club members will love you forever.

BUSA Individuals – Travel and Accommodation plans
On Friday 7th December we’ll be taking a minibus (a super-plush one) full of you lot to Nottingham. The minibus will leave before 8am from outside Beit so that we get there before men’s epee check-in closes at 11am. Please turn up at 7:30am in Beit Quad to load you and your luggage into the minibus quickly. We cannot set off late, so we won’t wait for anyone. Email me if you want a space on the minibus (I recommend it, the train is a hassle and much more expensive). Accommodation is being arranged for some people – more later in the week.

What fun!

Catch you all later
