Bright Futures' main aim is to help students develop the key skills demanded by top recruiters. Many of our goals are achieved by inviting important and influential sponsoring groups from industries around UK to Imperial College. These events give students the opportunity to gain an in depth understanding of the industry or business above and beyond a standard corporate careers presentation. The basic motto of Bright Futures is that when students are in need of career advice then they can turn to our society. Just remember that we are students here to help other students succeed. CSC – Exclusive Opportunity
Imperial College Bright Futures have teamed up with CSC (Computer Science Corporation) to offer 15 final year students an opportunity to spend time with senior members of the CSC team to discuss opportunities within their Consulting Graduate Programme and Technical Graduate Programme. This event is being held at the exclusive MCA Office in Trafalgar Square on the 22nd March 2012. The event will be followed by drinks at The Albannach. Imperial Bright Futures – AGM
As one of the fastest growing societies (increasing our membership by more than 400% alone this year to over 250 members) – Imperial Bright Futures has made a direct impact on helping people secure internships and jobs in all major industries by running numerous presentations, workshops and facilitating networking sessions! As part of the ICBF commitee, you have a great opportunity to help facilitate and run these amazing events. There are also other perks including a direct one-on-one mentoring scheme run by Accenture, national Awards ceremonies for all 40 Bright Futures societies across the UK, being part of a head hunting database run by Bright Futures UK (parent company of Imperial Bright Futures) etc etc.
The ICBF AGM will be held on the 13th March 2012, RSM 2.28 @ 12-2pm. All paid members (which is free) are eligible to stand and vote. See the box below for information about the positions open: Due to expected high demand, we will be screening your applications cv’s and will select the best candidates to present at the AGM after completing an interview on the 12th of March.

The interviews will take place on Monday 12th March: 12 – 1pm in RSM 3.22, then 1 – 2pm in RSM 3.03

Positions
President: to ensure the smooth functioning of the society and the interaction of all roles within the committee. Delegating tasks and leading teams; will be expected to build strong relationships with corporate firms as well as ensuring events are run successfully. Should be ambitious; innovative and proactive; excellent communication and networking ability; must be reliable and committed; always a positive and forward thinker; able to overcome challenges quickly and effectively. Strategic planning and forward thinking are essential in guaranteeing a successful year.
Vice President (Head of Corporate Liaison/Head of Events): similar role to the President but with a more focused oversight into either Corporate Liaisons officers or the Events officers Delegating tasks and leading teams; will be expected to build strong relationships with corporate firms as well as ensuring events are run successfully. Should be ambitious; innovative and proactive; excellent communication and networking ability; must be reliable and committed; always a positive and forward thinker; able to overcome challenges quickly and effectively.
Treasurer: To manage the society budget and any financial aspects of the running and funding of the society; the invoicing and payment with both clients and suppliers; ensure all costs the society incurs are covered through various forms of investment and support; to liaise with the committee to allocate and control budget including promotions, event and general expenses. Should be innovative and entrepreneurial in terms of money-making ideas; organised and efficient; proactive and able to work individually as well as communicate with a team; ability to inform and delegate.
Secretary: providing an essential supporting role to the President and other members of the committee. The secretary will be present in most organisational aspects, be it between committee member and corporate investors/employers. Various administrational tasks including taking meeting minutes; writing emails; supporting other committee members in their roles. Should be proactive and efficient; great time management; coordination and organisation; excellent written and verbal communication; planning and ability to meet deadlines; key knowledge of Union rules and regulation; ability to delegate. Excellent numeracy skills.
Event Officer x 2: the events officer will play a crucial role in providing innovative event ideas to offer members and employers the chance to engage in a fun interactive way. This means actually making the events happen! You will be required to develop and create a strategy with the rest of the committee for the year as well as the effective running of the events on the day. This will include event day structure, room bookings, catering etc. Should be innovative and proactive; efficient and able to plan and stick to deadlines; great time management; coordination and organisation; excellent communication and networking ability; must be reliable and committed; ability to delegate and work well in a team; forward thinker, able to overcome challenges quickly and effectively.
Corporate Liaison Officer (x 2): to manage thriving relationships between the society and corporate contacts. To manage the expectations of all corporates, new and old, as well as grow and maintain their opinion of the society and ensure successful communication between the two. Will have primary responsibility for contacting all corporates for activities the society wishes to host. MUST keep the corporates informed in the run up to events in terms of numbers attending etc. Should be confident with relationship management, excellent communication skills both written and verbal, ability to inform and delegate; manage expectations and be diplomatic; professional and mature manner.
Creative Director: responsible for all marketing throughout the campus – this includes posters, mailing list and Facebook. Will be required to liaise with departmental offices to inform them of events being run in their buildings. Communication skills is essential when liaising with the rest of the team about events.
Web Developer: responsible for maintaining and updating the society website. Previous experience of working on website design essential. Will liaise with the rest of the committee to update information about events.

New Entrepreneurs Foundation Programme
Looking to become a successful entrepreneur?
We thought we’d let you know about a new programme that has been designed to train and inspire a fresh breed of entrepreneurs. Backed by Brent Hoberman (Founder of lastminute.com), Charles Dunstone (Carphone Warehouse) and Sir Nigel Rudd, the New Entrepreneurs Foundation is on the hunt for outstanding entrepreneurial graduates to embark on a fantastic 12 month full-time programme starting in September 2012.
What does this programme offer you?
