About The Club

The Imperial College Underwater Club was founded in 1957 and today has around 80 members year to year including both students and staff. We are a BSAC (British Sub Aqua Club) branch and can therefore teach the BSAC's internationaly recognised diving qualifications. As a club we are very active with members organising many trips throughout the year, almost every weekend in the summer! The majority of these trips take place in the UK, although trips abroad are organised most years.

The club has a good selection of kit that can be rented by members at VERY low cost. Our kit is located in the ICUC Cellar in the north-west corner of the Beit Quad. All the essential items can be rented off the club: we own a good number of tanks, BCDs, regs, lead, reels and DSMBs. We also own a compressor and so can fill our own tanks.

Our Boats
Icy Diver
Icy Diver

Icy Diver is at least the third rib to carry that name. She was built in 2006, and was designed by IC club members. In particular the a-frame and bottle rack are unique designs. She is a 6.5m Ribcraft deep-v RHIB, can carry ten divers plus two crew. She is powered by a 150bhp four stroke yamaha.

Icicle is a 4.65m Avon Inflatable tender/workboat. She is powered by a 40bhp two stroke and can handle 6-8 divers plus a cox.

Ice Cube
IceCube

IceCube is the newest addition to the fleet, and was bought last year. She is a 5.25m Avon Inflatable tender/workboat, to which has been added an a-frame, chart plotter and depth sounder to make it more capable. She is powered by a 50bhp two stroke e-tec engine and can handle 8 divers plus a cox.
