Wardening Team

These guys are the ones who look after the hall and it’s everyday running. They are on duty from 6pm until 8am every week day and cover weekends from 6pm Friday to 8am Monday. They ensure that any issues arising within the halls are dealt with and are available for any issues students have, from room issues to advice or even just a chat. You can always contact the duty warden within hours on the extension 57647.

Below you can find out more about the team.

Warden: Dr Martin Head

Hi all, I’m Martin and I took over the helm of the good ship Fisher in April 2008. Prior to this I was the Assistant Warden in Southwell Hall for nearly six years after moving from Leeds to London in Jan 2002, after finishing my PhD (although I have actually lived in various kinds of university accommodation since starting as an undergraduate in 1992, so I understand the challenges of living in student digs quite well). Before this I spent thirteen years working in the ‘real’ world for a well known motor car manufacturer. At Imperial I am kept busy working as a Teaching Fellow in the Centre for Environmental Policy, supporting three natural science options, which are part of one of the most renowned environmentally based master’s degrees in the world. I am married to Laura (who is also an academic), and in our spare time we enjoy eating out in one of the many amazing local restaurants, or just chilling out with friends. We also enjoy visiting Laura’s native Italy to see friends and relatives, and of course to enjoy the fantastic countryside, climate, and food…

I would like to take this opportunity to invite my amazing sub-warden team to introduce themselves to you, so read on below…

Sub-Wardens

Sarah Duncan

I’m Sarah and I live in room 225 with my boyfriend Sam. I’m a medical student on the graduate entry programme but if you’re a non-medic, don’t hold this against me! I have a Natural Sciences Degree and worked in finance back home in Newcastle (hence the accent) for a year before starting my course. I’m relatively new to the bright lights of London but I’m really enjoying my time at Imperial and Fisher Hall so far. Please feel free to pop by any time with questions or just for a chat.

Cerith Jones

Hi, I’m Cerith.  I have been at Imperial for three years, and a Subwarden at the wonderful Fisher Hall for two.  I began my time at Imperial studying a Masters in Biochemical Research, and am currently two years into my PhD at the Centre for Molecular Microbiology and Infection.  As an undergraduate I studied at The University of Nottingham, and have spent a year working in industry.  I’m from a small village in South Wales, and am a fluent Welsh speaker, so do come and find me if you share this talent. I look forward to welcoming you to Fisher Hall and for a great year ahead!

Séverine Maréchal

Bonjour, I am Séverine. I have started my PhD in transportation engineering in the Department of Civil Engineering at Imperial, and therefore I could easily be found counting seconds of the green phase at a traffic light or thinking how to improve Picadilly line’s pedestrian access flows… Otherwise I like to swim with the Imperial team and run on week-ends as ways to relax. As you could guess from my name as well as my accent, I am from Bordeaux in France… which does not mean I am a Chef, but I enjoy cooking. I love travelling, discovering other people’s culture and I have lived in different places around the globe: North America, Southern Africa and Europe. Please knock on my door if you want to chat about anything, i.e. how to adapt to a new environment, find ways we could all be “greener” or just pour parler français.

Amanda Quigley

Hi there, I’ve been a happy resident of Fisher Hall since March 2009. I started my PhD at Imperial in 2008, I’m in the Chemical Engineering department but I’m looking into Protein Aggregation which could fall under a lot of other categories. I’ve been in London 7 years now having been an undergrad at UCL previously (please don’t think badly of me, as far as I’m concerned the only University rivalry was with King’s). When I’m not working I can most often be found playing polo or relaxing in the pub with some friends. Feel free to drop by room 206 anytime if you fancy a chat or some ideas for places to go and things to see in London.
