Fisher Hall, 12-30 Evelyn Gardens, London, SW7 3BG
By Car
Fulham Road is the A308, if you are coming from the north or east, head for Knightsbridge from Hyde Park Corner and take Brompton Road towards Stamford Bridge football stadium. Brompton Road leads into Fulham Road and Evelyn Gardens is on the right hand side as you head west. If you are coming from the west, take the A4 towards central London, turn onto Earls Court Road (the A3220) and then onto Fulham Road heading east, Evelyn Gardens will be on the left hand side this time. From the south, it is easiest to head for Hyde Park Corner and follow the directions for coming from the north and east.
Parking
Parking is generally difficult and expensive. On arrivals day (1st October) there will be limited spaces allocated outside the halls in Evelyn Gardens allowing for a loading time of 15 minutes as shown in this aerial photo of Evelyn Gardens.

There are also pay and display bays around the corner in Cranley Gardens. The kind people at the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea Council tend to send a large contingent of parking attendants to Evelyn Gardens on the day everyone moves in. During Saturday morning when parking is restricted to resident permit holders only (the restriction lifts at 1330 hrs), the driver should stay with the vehicle if possible to minimize the risk of getting a ticket. (Note: if the driver is in the vehicle with the engine running, the vehicle is classed as stopped, not parked. This won’t guarantee that the parking attendants won’t give you a ticket, but if they try you may be able to appeal it, still no promises…).
After you have unloaded, if you wish to park nearby, there is a parking lot (Harrington Road) just a few minutes drive around the corner (see map on right; larger version available here). Prices at this location are approximately £3 per hour. Imperial College will provide a mini-bus shuttle service to take you back and forth between Evelyn Gardens and Harrington Road car park. This service will operate between 10 am and 5 pm.
By Air
Heathrow airport is served by the Piccadilly Line, head to Gloucester Road and follow the directions below. Gatwick is a little less convenient, take the train to Victoria and then the District or Circle line westbound to Gloucester Road. If you are arriving at either of the other London airports (Stanstead or Luton), head to central London and make your way to Gloucester Road tube station, the London Underground staff are very helpful and patient and will be happy to help.
By Bus
Evelyn Gardens is just off Fulham Road, which is served by the numbers 14, 211, 345 and 414 buses all of which stop near the top of Evelyn Gardens.
If you ever find yourself stuck in Central London late at night (especially after the Underground is closed), look out for the Route 14 buses as they operate a 24 hour service. If you’re elsewhere, the easiest way to get back to Fisher is to catch a bus that goes to Piccadilly Circus, and then get on the Route 14 bus there.
By Underground
One of the best things about London it its underground railway system, affectionately called the tube (and less affectionately called a number of other things!). The nearest tube station to Evelyn Gardens is Gloucester Road and is served by the District, Circle and Piccadilly lines, otherwise South Kensington Station. From Gloucester Road station, you can either take a taxi (black cab) to Evelyn Gardens (this will cost you a few pounds depending on how much luggage you have) or take the short walk down the road to the hall (turn right as you exit the station and head straight down the road until you see Evelyn Gardens on your right, Fisher is on the second entrance to Evelyn Gardens.
You can plan bus and tube journeys online at Transport for London’s Website. Please also use this link to check for tube lines that are closed for repair and refurbishment works. By example, the Circle Line is often closed over the weekend and if you are taking the Heathrow Express to Paddington and then getting the Circle Line to Gloucester Road you may have to find an alternative route (in this case a direct Underground train from Heathrow to Gloucester Road on the Piccadilly Line is advised).
