Posted Sunday, November 6th, 2011 at 17:49pm / No comments

Hope you're all enjoying term so far. Just thought I'd share a few things with you - there are some programs we use in the department which are available commercially, but are free for students. You'll find it very useful to have these on your laptop as well as on the computers in the department so you're not stuck in ACEX a week before every deadline!
Matlab and CES https://www.imperial.ac.uk/ict/services/software/shop/index.asp (requires Imperial login)

Whether its the concept for a new skyscraper, the upgrade of a rail network, the modelling of a flood defence system or the improvement of a management process, we plan, design and enable solutions.
From cost and risk planning, feasibility studies and logistics to impact assessments and stakeholder engagement activity, we plan every aspect of our clients projects.
Atkins designs intellectual capital such as management systems and business processes. We also design physical structures such as office towers, schools, bridges and highways.
Our clients entrust us with the management of projects, people and issues ensuring that deadlines are met, costs are controlled and success is delivered.
Our skills lie in the expansive area of infrastructure the wiring of society encompassing buildings, transport and utilities (including energy and water) as well as work for national and local governments and other industrial clients. The social and environmental framework is crucial and we view all our projects in the context of the communities and in which they will be undertaken.
