Imperial College is consistently ranked as one of the top research institutes in the world, leading the field in many aspects of climate change research, policy and energy solutions. Below are just two of our current research collaborations, bringing together the work of various College Departments. For more information visit the College’s website.
Grantham Institute for Climate Change
The Grantham Institute for Climate Change at Imperial College London was founded in 2007 thanks to a 10-year grant of £12.8 million from the Grantham Foundation for the Protection of the Environment. The Grantham Institute aims to provide leadership and co-ordination on climate issues, harnessing the tremendous research strengths across all the four main areas of the College - engineering, natural sciences, medicine and business - in order to carry out the cutting edge research that is still needed on the whole range of climate-related issues, from fundamental understanding of climate processes, through climate impacts and mitigation technologies and policies; and to ensure that this work has a real-world impact and helps catalyse and shape the transition to a low-carbon economy.

Energy Futures Lab
The Energy Futures Lab at Imperial College is a major multidisciplinary, cross-faculty research initiative designed to meet the broader energy challenges and facilitate the transition to a sustainable energy economy. Building on the already impressive capabilities at Imperial College in key areas, such as energy efficiency, fossil fuel decarbonisation, transport, the urban environment, nuclear energy, electrical networks, power generation, renewable energy technologies, as well as the analysis of energy systems, policy, economics and risk, the Lab will provide a vehicle, and develop programmes, for advancing research specifically aimed at understanding and solving wide cross-cutting energy problems.
