WHAT DO I DO?

I'm here to make sure that your year goes by without the Bad Stuff and lots of opportunities for Good Stuff. Examples of Bad Stuff: Discrimination, Harassment, pressure to drink, emotional distress, lack of personal development, etc. Examples of Good Stuff: Volunteering, Equal Access, cycling and promoting green issues, healthy living, etc. If you see something you’d like to change, or care deeply about a particular issue, give me a shout. I’ll support you in getting your message across and bringing your issues to college’s attention.

RWB Hackery

We’re currently trying to write from scratch an RWB policy which is turning out to be non-trivial.

If you think you can stand this blog I dare you to continue, although I suspect you’ll get hacked off.

At the moment regulation five of the constitution contains the standing orders for how RWB should be run. This framework is very basic and hardly goes into any detail at all.

Jon and I have drafted three separate documents. One lays down exactly how RAG and CAG should be run, another is an academic representation policy and the last is job descriptions for the remaining officers on RWB.

The problem is that I believe any officer should only have to look in one document for their job description. I also believe that if a position sits on council that their job description should be in the constitution.

Sticking with these two premises means that the RAG/CAG chairs job description cannot be in the RAG/CAG policy, that the Welfare role of year reps and dep reps needs to be added to the academic representation policy and that the job descriptions for diversity officers are in a different place to the equal opportunities officer.

My head is spinning only slightly less than the drill being used for #phase3.

If anyone would like to get involved or feels they have a solution please get in touch.
