ICCMS is featured with one track in the German progressive rock community [progrock-dt]'s musical Christmas calendar.
We are planning to organize a percussion workshop in late November / early December. This workshop is to be given by Barak Schmool, artistic director of the F-IRE collective. Barak has played with Django Bates' big band, Bosco De Oliveira, Nana Tsiboe, Robert Mitchell and Hilaire Penda and is currently playing in Timeline, Meta Meta and Roots of Unity. The workshop would cover basic principles and techniques of percussion playing, how percussion music derives from dance and language and related topics. It would be very hands-on and practically oriented. It would take place on a Saturday morning at City College and last about three hours. The price per person depends on the number of participants, but we're aiming at about 7. If you're interested in this workshop, please e-mail our chairman Ralf.
Our very first music album "In Stereo" is available from now on in MP3 format from our new website section "Sounds". A non-compressed WAV version of the album is available on peer-to-peer networks such as eMule. "In Stereo" is a best-of collection of recordings made during last summer term. Download it, listen to it, share it with your friends and family and maybe even make weird music of your own based on the sound files!
German Progressive Rock critic Udo Gerhards has posted an entry about ICCMS in his weblog. It's worth checking out even if you don't understand German, because you can download our interpretation of John Coltrane's "Impressions" that we played at the jam on the 7th of June.
