Imperial College Big Band is based in London and regularly performs in and around the capital. The band is made up of university students at Imperial College and directed by Andy Simm gaining an excellent reputation over the last few years.

The band is experienced at playing at a variety of venues including balls, dinners, weddings, charity concerts as well as regular gigs at the student union. The styles they play cover the range of big band jazz including swing, latin, funk and contempory.

The band has competed in national competitions and won the gold award at the final of the National Concert Band Festival in 2006 and has recently got through to the final once again after gaining a gold award in the 2008-9 regional heat. In summer 2006 they went on tour to the Czech Republic, in 2007 to Croatia and to Romania in September 2008 to raise money for Hospices of Hope.

The band is entirely organised and run by the students, a committee is elected each year to manage all the main aspects of keeping the band in tip top action. The recordings you can listen to are a little dated but still give an accurate demo of the high standard the band plays at.
