How do I become a member?
To become a member of the ICRPC you need to turn up at one of the training sessions with the following items:
- A valid Imperial College Union Card
- A passport photograph
- Referee (Sponsor)
- Signed up online
You will then have to complete a membership form which will be checked by the Home Office. Most of the form is straight forward, but there are a couple of points to bear in mind:
- You will need someone to act as a referee for you. They must have known you for at least three years and must not be a member of your family. We will require contact details for this person, but they do not have to be there when you join.
- You will be asked whether you have ever been refused a firearms certificate or a shotgun certificate, or had a firearms or shotgun certificate revoked. This may not exclude you from joining the club, but we do need to know.
- If you hold a current shotgun or firearms certificate we will need to know details of which constabulary issued it, the certificate number and renewal date.
The membership form must be completed in full before you will be allowed to shoot.
Once the membership form is complete you will be given a one-on-one safety brief by an experienced member of the club, and only after this will you be issued with a membership card and allowed to shoot. All new members must complete a probationary period of 9 months when they first join. After 9 months of regular attendance you will receive full membership status and will be able to take part in the running of the club (acting as range officers, giving safety briefs, etc).
