New Year, New Site

Notices | Written by ICFC | 12:11 28/09/2009

Hey all,

It’s the start of another College year, and hopefully it’ll be another good one for the club!

Regular training sessions start on Monday the 5th as well as a Welcome Back Social,  Freshers’ Fair on Tuesday the 6th, and try-outs for  teams on Wednesday the 7th, so it’ll be a busy first week of term. See Emily’s email on the mailing list for more info on what’s coming up.

You’ll also notice that the new site has gone live, if anyone wants to contibute to the site (and I hope you do!) you can register from the link at the bottom of the page, and then I’ll be able to empower you to post up new content. If you have any ideas or suggestions, I’d be very happy to hear those too.

Here’s to a good year,

Fencing Holidays in France

Notices | Written by ICFC | 17:13 | Modified: 18:06 02/09/2009

Priscille (our coach on Mondays) is putting together some exciting fencing holidays in France. Fencing holidays are a great way to quickly develop your fencing, whilst also being a fantastic way to have a break and get away from studies for just a few days. All Club members are welcome, including beginners.

There are two separate trips, click on the links for details:

Fencing Weekend in Dinard – Brittany, France - click here for more info

Fencing at the beach – St Raphael, Cote d’Azur - click here for more info

Jean-Christophe (our coach on Fridays) will be coaching alongside Priscille on both trips. In Dinard, Frank Nicolet will be the Sabre coach - he is training the top 10 Sabre in France. In St Raphael, Maître Reilhes will be the saber coach, he was venerable Sabre educator at the National fencing coach school for 2 years. All in all this is some world class coaching!!

If you like the sound of fencing in the french sun then email the club, the address is: fencing @ imperial  ac uk

Sports Team of the Year, promotion, freshers fair, new training sessions and more…

Ladies and Gents,

You’ve all had amazing holidays I hope? For those of you who haven’t heard we won the IDEA League fencing comp, beating the Swiss, the Germans, the Dutch and the French teams! And our women’s team wonSports Team of the Year and have been promoted…

We’ve fought long and hard over the summer for our new improved training sessions from 6pm-8pm on both Mondays and Fridays. For freshers week our new training season starts gently this monday (tomorrow) night with an un-coached session in Ethos and again on Friday. Then full training sessions start second week onwards. Naturally there will be post-training socials.

Team Trials this Wednesday in the union gym 10am-12pm. “Lunch” in the union afterwards. This might change by freshers fair so visit the stall or check back here on Tuesday.

Later on in the second week of term expect a freshers social, novice and experienced ladder league,  team coaching and more.

See you at the fair

Finished for this year…

Here it is… End of term, end of fencing year….

I hope all of you had a great time in this club. I wanted to thank all of you for making this club what it is. The new committee will change in August and according to what I have already seen, it will be fantastic. Trainings will restart shortly after the Freshers’ Fair. We should have more fencing kits, more convenient hours, more social life, more everything ! I wanted to congratulate our 2 teams who made very good results (women’s team promoted in the first league, our IDEA league team won the fencing event and was awarded “sports team of the year”).

I wish you good luck in your exams for those who haven’t finished, superbe holidays for those who have some and see you next year !

All the best
