About the ACCThe Athletics Club Committee (ACC) is the Clubs and Societies Committee (CSC) for the sub-divisions of sporting clubs within Imperial College Union, i.e. it is the organisational body for sports clubs at Imperial. The ACC represents its clubs on all important boards and meetings in Union and College, and it allocates and manages the annual budget of £170k+ for its clubs. The ACC meetings are a democratic board with representatives from every ACC club. Once a year the ACC awards the ACC Colours for outstanding sporting achievements. More details on the organisation of the clubs at Imperial College can be found on the Union website. Besides its organisational responsibilities the ACC also has a strong social commitment. It organises monthly bar nights, an annual dinner and various other events. The ACC clubs compete in various leagues (e.g. ULU and BUCS), in numerous tournaments and championships, and of course on Imperial's Varsity Day. Currently there are 50 clubs in the ACC. In 2008/09 the ACC had a total of 2700 members, which makes the ACC one of the largest subdivisions of Imperial College Union. It is also the CSC with the, by far, highest annual budget, and it receives high media attention in particular for its achievements in various leagues. There are some other sporting clubs at Imperial which are not directly part of the ACC. These clubs are represented by Faculty Unions (C&G, Medics, RCS, RSM, Wye), or they are classified as "recreational" and therefore represented by the Recreational Clubs Committee (RCC). |
