After the Christmas Holidays which ended last week, the club is back into competition with the participation in the annual Brunel Open yesterday. Held in Brunel University in Uxbridge, 6 of the senior squad went for the standard Portsmouth shoot, joined by our coach, Ian, along with Jill and Travis who were previously members of the archery club.

At the time of this news post results are yet to be announced, but the club is generally satisfied with the results, following a decent break from college and potentially archery. A special mention is to our “Hero of the Day”, Rhys, who successfully advanced to Full white by shooting just the right score – 520. Congratulations!

Our next competition will be the SEAL match on 31st January against Surrey and Reading. Details are yet to be confirmed, but we will be actively looking for novices to join the senior team to the competition. Besides it will also be a good chance for novices, both with or without badges, to take the challenge, since this match will be badge qualifying. Stay tuned for email later in the month for details of the match.

Also we are in need of E-league scores so you are all welcome to come and shoot a scoring round, and then forward the results to the Records Officer before the end of the month.

In December Imperial were lucky enough to be invited to the Werner and Iris center in Dauchingen, Germany. Mr Beiter has built a tremendous archery paradise equiped with a 70m indoor range and all kinds of technological inovations to help archers set up their equipment and improve their technique. Here is a brief glimps of how we spent half an hour of our weekend. Besides the shooting we also managed to fit in lots of poker, snooker and beer with Mr Beiter too :) Hopefully we will sort out a full report of the trip for the website soon!
